symptoms of diabetesDiabetes affects millions of people. It is a treatable disease if caught early and is manageable. There are two different types. Type 1 diabetes mellitus is usually juvenile. It is generally found in children and early adolescence.

Type 1 is generally found when treating another illness. Symptoms often come on very suddenly and acutely. Excessive thirst is a symptom of diabetes. It can lead to dehydration if left ignored. There is usually an increased appetite, but weight loss happens anyway.

Fatigue is a general symptoms that most diabetics complains of also. Nausea and vomiting can also be a sign that one is a diabetic.

Blurred vision is a major complaint. The fluctuating glucose levels cause many to develop the blurry eyes. When glucose levels rise is usually when this symptom begins.

Other symptoms can include frequent urination, skin infections, chronic itching, complaints of being cold, and numbness of extremities. Frequent headaches and mood changes are also common symptoms of a diabetic.

Diabetes mellitus type 2 is usually adult onset. It is age related, and often due to obesity. It can be life threatening if left untreated. It is manageable if found. The patient may not even know they have it because it takes years to develop. Many of the symptoms are the same as in Type 1. These would include the increased thirst and frequent urination, as well as increased weight loss, hunger, fatigue, blurred vision, and skin infections.

With Type 2 there can also be a chance of kidney failure. Problems with feet and toes are also more frequent. This would include infections and slow healing wounds. Neuropathy can develop. This is a type nerve damage. Type 2 diabetics can also become blind. These symptoms are usually in patients that do not know they have diabetes and go without treatment. It is on the more severe side.

Either type is manageable and can be treated with proper diet, exercise, or insulin. A thorough examination by a doctor will reveal if a patient has either type of diabetes. There will be testing and a treatment plan. Following this can lead to many healthy years and easy management of the disease.
