Symptoms of Pre Diabetes

symptoms of diabetesPre diabetes is often times symptomless. It usually becomes detected through blood work testing sugar levels and kidney function. When the blood work is done, they use a glucose test. Glucose is basically sugar, and if a persons numbers are too high then the have the condition of diabetes. If through blood work it is found that you have pre diabetes, it can be treated so diabetes does not develop.

A healthy diet, cutting back on sugars, and exercising is how you keep from having diabetes. Sometimes doing these things may not be enough though, as a person may have to undergo regular insulin injections. A person should be concerned about pre diabetes if they fall into one of the following categories: overweight, have pcos, family history of diabetes, and high cholesterol.

Having a family history is the most likely factor to diabetes, and it will keep your doctor on the lookout to find it soon. While most people don’t have any symptoms, symptoms are not impossible. If a person is feeling fatigued, drained, or like they could pass out pre-diabetes could be the problem. This will often occur after eating something high in sugar. After it is eaten, it will raise a persons sugar levels so high and then it will rapidly crash very low. This causes a person to feel very weak and sometimes nauseous. If someone is urinating a lot this could be an indication of pre diabetes. What happens is that there is such a surplus of glucose in the body, so it finds a way to eliminate it. Which is by excretion through urine. Then since a person is losing more fluids than normal, they will also be very thirsty. If they do not drink water, then it can lead to dehydration. This can be very difficult on the kidneys since the person already has pre diabetes.

Pay attention to the skin, as it may become very dry when a person has pre diabetes. Just because a persons blood work doesn’t show that they have diabetes, does not mean they don’t. Sometimes several test are needed.

My eye doctor and my rhumetologist both think o should be tested for diabetes but my primary care doctor won’t do it. I have been having severe and worsening fatigue for years. My vision gets blurred after about a half hour of doing any reading ,close work, watching tv, etc. I drink lots of water every day. More than the minimum required. I do not go to the bath room frequently except when I have a break in my almost constant diarrhea. Can diabetes cause diarrhea? It takes a long time for injuries to heal and I bruise very easily. I con bruise just from brushing against something. When I was younger every time they did a glucose tolerance test my results were always high-normal. Could I have diabetes and if so how can I convince my primary care divorce to test me? She says that the test that is done with a prick shows that I do not have diabetes.

    Thank You

The synchronicity of you typing divorce instead of doctor is your answer! Divorce your doctor and get a new one! No one deserves to be devalued by their physician! You know your body like no one else does. Find one who will help you.

I am 25 and I have two children with the youngest being 1. I have been experiencing fatigue the past few months and its to the point were i can sleep 10 hours at night and in the morning i just cant get going. I feel so tired and just want to nap but i can’t with having small children. I dont have frequent urination, but i do bruise easily. My skin is already dry and always has been. My grandfather had type 2 diabetes, and his mother as well. I am not sure if I worry over nothing or if I should get checked out!! I also notice if I dont eat before I go to work my hands can get very shaky! Should I be worried?

Recently I have been havning all of the symptoms that are listed. I also have tremendous difficulty losing weight. I had 3 children, all over 10lbs and I KNOW I had diabetes while pregnant but because the “test didn’t show it” I was told NO. My last baby was born and needed to be on IV for his blood sugar because it crashed after birth – sure, floating arond in all that sugar and then nothing? Proves definite diabetes. So knowing the tests will show “high normal” or nothing at all, do you have any suggestions? Are there any tests that are more sensitive that will point this out? There are too many coincidences here. One endocrinologist went as far as telling me I eat a bag of Oreos unconsciously in the middle of the night and I should have my husband check my trash in the morning and he knows that he will find cookie and candy wrappers and that will then point to the problem. Yeah. Right. I need help and just don’t know where to turn!
