Diabetes affects more than half of the population today. The most common type of diabetes is Type 2 Diabetes. When you have Type 2 your pancreas can produce insulin, just not enough of it. Or your body produces insulin and your body does not use it correctly. Having Type 2 Diabetes can cause serious health problems if not treated.
This disease comes with a lot of symptoms. Some are everyday symptoms that can happen to you day in, and day out, the other symptoms are rare. The most common symptoms can range from increased hunger and thirst, along with rapid weight loss even though you’re basically starving, you feel extremely tired all the time, with headaches. Some of the rare symptoms can be anything from a numb feeling in your toes and feet, excessive itching in the pubic area, to dark skin color changes in the neck, armpit, and groin area, this is known as Nigricans. Having any of these symptoms excessively or appearing out of nowhere should be checked out by a doctor immediately.
Anybody can get Type 2 diabetes. If a family member had diabetes you run a risk of getting it. If you’re overweight you run the risk. People who don’t eat regularly and healthy run a risk because, one your body needs nutrients and two your body needs to eat to produce insulin. Smoking cigarettes and drinking too much alcohol can be another factor to contract the disease.
If you find out you have Type 2 Diabetes there is a lot you can do to treat it. The most common thing the doctor will prescribe is shot insulin. There are different kinds of insulin for different stages of diabetes. Rapid acting insulin, short acting insulin, intermediate acting insulin, long acting insulin and premixed insulin’s are to help you maintain your blood sugar. Some of these insulin’s are to be taken with food and others before or after you eat. Anger way to treat Type 2 diabetes is by taking diabetes insulin pills. This insulin’s’ purpose is to help you maintain your blood sugar throughout that day.
